Lorraine Baum LCSW PLLC
As I continue to grow and mature in my work as a therapist I find that there is an alchemy between experience and knowledge that creates a new path for treatment. I am continuously training in the field to ensure that I am bringing the most up-to-date and proven treatments to my clients. This would be true for any therapist approaching the work responsibly. A difference between practices then likely lies in the clients that the therapist works with as the application of knowledge will be informed by the needs and preferences of those clients.
I have always told social workers I mentor that "your population will find you." This was my experience when I was practicing policy and macro social work and it has held true with clinical work. Through referrals from clients or people responding to my Psychology Today profile and now this website, I am attracting a clientele that shares many similarities. A salient feature among my clients is their intellectual acuity and curiosity. My clients are thinkers. As such they are inclined to share their ideas and thoughts with the people in their lives. Clients have started to ask me if I have written down some of the work we have done in session. Now that I have the website it seemed the perfect time to start doing so. This Thoughts On... section is mainly a resource for my current clients tbut it is also available to prospective clients to sample some of what I bring to therapy as my knowledge base.
