Women

I am so happy you are considering therapy for yourself! I know without knowing anything about you other than you are a woman, that you have been over-working, over-doing, over-giving, over-caring, over-accommodating and unfairly blaming and criticizing yourself. I also know that you have accomplished spectacular and amazing things in your life that you may or may not fully give yourself credit for or any credit at all and I am pretty certain that you are not taking good care of yourself and that you may never have learned how to do so. Women are notorious for undervaluing ourselves. We may mask that low self-value with bravado and a façade of toughness. And we may hide it from the world so that people would be shocked to learn what some of our sadder and darker moments actually look like.  Most days we are able to put all that behind us and keep going as we don't see we have a choice but to muscle through and take care of all the people who depend on us.  But other days it can get the better of us and those days can be very hard. When those days start to pile up into weeks and even months it may be a good time to consider therapy.
